Great overview of Twitter and how it can help genealogists.

GeneaBloggers has a free Twitter cheat sheet that is great for newbies: http://su.pr/1WnuMd

It is in PDF format and has live hyperlinks to lots of great Twitter related sites!

Interesting question - I too like The Family Tree Problem Solver and The Sleuth book. Some books/articles are USA-centric (or UK) but still useful for ideas/process even if not researching in US.
Also Professional Genealogy, although I use that at the BC Genealogical Society library. I don't have my own copy. Some of my own genealogy books are listed at LibraryThing under 'eicuthbertson'.
Then there is Evidence Explained! and the quicksheets. I still like Christine Rose's Genealogical Proof Standard and Brenda Dougall Merriman's About Genealogical Standards of Evidence as well.

That's excellent advice. I like that you published a positive example of *why* you should use city directories too. I recently attended a lecture on city directories and the speaker (can't find his name right now) had tons of great suggestions for finding ancestors in the directories. In large cities, it's possible to narrow down where they attended church or whether they held any public office.
